The Cotton Ball
Organic and Handpicked
Starting out with organic cotton means that even at its most raw and unprocessed state, we have fibers of the finest quality and durability. The absence of pesticides and herbicides produces a cotton yarn that is a great deal more resilient. Blades of machinery can damage the cotton as it is picked, handpicking takes more time but ensures a higher quality product.
Each boll is handpicked, applying only the gentlest pressure and yielding a finished product that retains these qualities.
The Journey
From fuzzy ball to the finest yarn
When our cotton bales reach the textile mill, they are opened, and cleaned by fluffing and blowing. The longest fibers — over one and a quarter inches long — are what we keep. The mixed and fluffed-up cotton goes into a carding machine which cleans and straightens the fibers, making them into a soft, untwisted rope called a sliver, which looks exactly as beautiful as it sounds. Spinning frames that rotate at fantastic speeds take fibers from the sliver, interlacing them.
Twisting and twisting, until the fibers go from almost nothing to a beautiful cotton yarn, ready to be woven.
The Staple
The long and the short of it
Staple simply means the length of the fiber. Cotton varieties from Egypt and parts of Asia are so highly prized because of their length — over one and a quarter inches long. With shorter staples, tiny knots are made to hold the individual pieces of cotton fiber together. Longer staples mean fewer knots, and a finished product that’s noticeably softer. Fewer knots also make a stronger fabric.
Our bedsheets are made with long staple fibers making them stronger and softer to last through the years.
The Count & Ply
Strong, light, and breathable
When it comes to thread count, it isn’t just about going for the highest number. Our sateen sheets have a thread count of 300. This means you’ll find 300 threads for every square inch of the sheet. But a higher thread count means very little if it’s made from a shorter, lower quality staple. Each strand of our bed sheets are made from a single strong, long staple cotton fiber.
Using single ply yarn results in a bed sheet that’s lighter and more breathable — making for a cozier, and more refreshing night of sleep.

The Factory
A safe, solar-powered workplace
Our products are made in a solar-powered, family-owned facility in the sunny plains of central India. Our factory operates between 8.30am and 5.30pm to make the most of this amazing natural light. We use approximately 6000 liters of water every day and this covers requirements for production, drinking, cooking and sanitary use. All waste water, except sanitary water, is treated by an effluent treatment system and recycled to water a community organic garden.
All workers receive health insurance, fair trade wages, bonus pay and a provident fund.
